CNC Milling in the Workshop is a book published by The Crowood Press.

The book takes a practical approach to software and techniques and explains how you can make full use of your CNC mill to produce ambitious work of a high standard.

The book provides working examples of how to use both Mach3 and LinuxCNC.

It also provides:

  1. Bulletadvice on programming and operating a CNC mill

  2. Bulleta guide to the major CAD/CAM/CNC software such as Mach3, LinuxCNC and Vectric packages, but explains working methods without being restricted to any particular software package or specific make of mill

  3. Bulletpractical projects throughout and examples of a wide range of work.

You will also find that most of the additional materials and information on the rest of this site are of interest.

The support materials for the magazine articles mentioned on this site cover CNC machining using Mach3 and although there is common ground, they do not incorporate material from the book, and their emphasis is a little different, so they may provide a useful additional source of information.

One thing to note, before you dive into the chapters:

  1. BulletI have added corrections to typographical errors in Chapters 5 and 7 (below). I would be grateful if you would email me with any other errors (and I sincerely hope there won’t be many of those). That way, I can keep everyone up to date.
