Installation problem

I mounted a SmoothStepper board inside my computer case, and connected it using a USB2.0 cable. All seemed ok.

Then I downloaded and installed the driver in Windows 7. Again, all went well.

Then I downloaded the SmoothStepper plugin and tried to install it, with no luck.  The plugin is supposed to self-install when you double-click it, but W7 just asked which program I wanted to use to run the plugin.

SmoothStepper installation problem

The explanation seems to be that although Mach3 is supposed to associate a program called “M3Plug.exe with the file type M3P. The SmoothStepper plugin file has the .M3P extension but was not being recognised. Mach3 seems not to have carried out the task of associating that file type with the M3Plug.exe program.

The simple solution is to put the SmoothStepper plugin into the Mach3 Plugins folder and rename the extension on the plugin filename to .dll
